Turning Up the Volume on Visual Identity

We were approached by Plastersun to create a distinctive logo that would reflect their unique blend of late 70s punk, ska rhythms, Britpop confidence, and early 2000s garage grit. The brief called for a wordmark-driven identity that felt raw and energetic, but still adaptable enough to live across digital platforms, merch, and print. It needed to speak to the band’s DIY ethos while appealing to a broad, alternative-leaning audience – and hint at the slightly chaotic, genre-melding nature of their sound.

Our design process began with a bold, blocky rendering of the band’s name, paired with a rough sketch of a rising sun – symbolising energy, vision, and warmth. From there, we developed the concept further by positioning the sun emerging from beneath the text and arching the lettering over it. This warped, dynamic layout added momentum and presence to the logo, giving it the look of a stamp or badge – instantly recognisable and packed with personality.

To bring the concept to life, we didn’t just deliver flat artwork – we presented the logo across a series of real-world applications to help the band visualise its full potential. We mocked up hoodie designs, vinyl releases, and even Spotify profile treatments, demonstrating how the identity could evolve with them as they grow. Showing the logo in context allowed us to highlight its versatility and gave Plastersun a forward-facing toolkit – not just a graphic, but a visual asset they could build around.
